Run for Mom 2026 In Tribute to Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother First-Ever Carbon Neutral Event, Now on a World-Class Certified Course
N.C.C. Management & Development Co., Ltd. (NCC), the operator of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), together with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, government agencies and private-sector partners, is set to organize the 31st 12 August Half Marathon Bangkok 2026 (Run for Mom 2026) on 12th August 2026.
One of Thailand’s longest-running races dedicated to mothers, this year’s event is being held in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. The race continues its mission of promoting physical activity, healthy living and quality family time, reflecting Her Majesty’s longstanding commitment to improving the well-being and quality of life of the Thai people. As in previous years, proceeds after expenses will be donated to the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation at Chulalongkorn Hospital, under the Thai Red Cross Society.
This year also marks a major milestone for Run for Mom as it elevates its standards to the international level. The half marathon course has received official certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and World Athletics (WA), reflecting more than three decades of continuous development and commitment to quality. In addition, the event will become a Carbon Neutral Event for the first time, with efforts focused on reducing and offsetting greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the event, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability alongside sporting excellence.
Surapol Utintu, Chief Executive Officer of Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, said: "As this year marks the first edition of Run for Mom held in tribute to Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, we are committed to creating an event that encourages people of all ages to embrace healthier lifestyles through running and physical activity. More importantly, the event provides an opportunity for families to spend meaningful time together while strengthening the bonds of love and connection that define the spirit of the occasion."
"At the same time, this year represents another important step toward sustainability. Run for Mom 2026 will be organized as a Carbon Neutral Event for the first time, focusing on both reducing and offsettin greenhouse gas emissions generated by event activities. A real-time carbon footprint dashboard will also be displayed throughout the event, allowing participants to better understand their environmental impact and become part of a collective effort toward a more sustainable future."
Dr. Bunyarit Uyyanonvara, Chief Executive Officer of ThaiDotRun Co., Ltd. and co-organizer of the event, said: "Receiving certification from AIMS and World Athletics is the result of years of continuous development and dedication to raising the quality of the race. It not only strengthens confidence among both Thai and international runners, but also demonstrates that Run for Mom has successfully evolved into a world-class event while preserving the values and spirit that have defined it for more than three decades."
Run for Mom 2026 welcomes runners of all levels through four race categories: the 21.1-kilometer Half Marathon, 10-kilometer Mini Marathon, 6-kilometer Fun Run, and 1.8-kilometer Family Walk & Run, all taking place within and around Benjakitti Park.
The highlight of the Half Marathon remains its iconic route across six bridges in the heart of Bangkok, offering runners a unique urban racing experience. Participants in the 10-kilometer and 6-kilometer categories will also run along parts of this celebrated route, providing inspiration for future endurance challenges. Meanwhile, the 1.8-kilometer Family Walk & Run continues to offer families an opportunity to create memorable moments together, accompanied by special appearances from GMMTV artists.
Another long-standing symbol of Run for Mom is the jasmine plant, Thailand’s national symbol for Mother’s Day, representing love, gratitude and the bond between mother and child. Every participant will receive a jasmine plant as a commemorative gift. This year, the traditional plastic pot has been replaced with a coconut-husk planter as part of the event’s sustainability initiative.
The event medal has also been designed around the concept of a jasmine flower. Participants will receive the first petal this year and can continue collecting petals in future editions. After completing the four-piece series, the petals come together to form a fully blossomed jasmine flower, symbolizing the growth of love, family bonds and shared memories built through participation in Run for Mom over the years.
