IMF Visits QSNCC to Review Preparations for the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings Ahead of Thailand's Return as Host After 35 Years
Mr. Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), welcomed Mr. Kenji Okamura, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), during a visit to review the progress of preparations for the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings. Preparations are progressing according to plan as Thailand prepares to host the Meetings from 12–18 October 2026 at QSNCC.
On this occasion, Mr. Sirivadhanabhakdi and Mr. Okamura posed for a commemorative photograph at the iconic “Elephant and Globe” sculpture, created as a symbol of the 1991 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings. Featuring the elephant as a representation of Thailand and the globe as an expression of the international community, the sculpture reflects the country's enduring connection with the world. As Thailand prepares to host the Meetings again after 35 years, it stands as a fitting reminder of the country's enduring role on the global stage.
